Over the next 10 years, I was able to build my own pottery studio on my family farm in the beautiful countryside near Fowey, Cornwall, inspiring the name, The Cornish Potter.
In 2019, I was lucky enough to get a space on The Great Pottery Throwdown, in the industrial home of ceramics, Stoke-on-Trent. Here I met a selection of inspiring potters and was faced with many exciting challenges that encouraged me to develop my ceramic skills. In 2020, I moved out of my pottery studio in Cornwall and headed to the vibrant city of Bristol to start a new chapter. I am currently based at In Bristol Studio, home to some amazing artists and makers.
My work consists of a range of pit-fired ornamental profiles, containing earthy tones and a variety of colours. My forms consist of vases, and ergonomic mugs with minimalistic designs and curves. Pit-fired stoneware pottery is my favourite style, with unpredictable and beautiful variations in colour from every firing. I hope to develop my practise further as I learn from my peers and life experiences as I progress.
