Join us to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the signing of the Representation of The People Act, which allowed (some) women to vote in the UK for the first time!
We will meet at the corner of Berkeley Square at 6pm. A night time lantern lit march from Berkeley Square (BS8 1HB) will travel past Wills Tower, which will be illuminated in Suffragette colours, the march will continue down Park Street arriving at College Green. They will be welcomed by speeches and the ‘100 Voices’ girls’ choir singing ‘March of the Women’ and a newly commissioned centenary contemporary piece, among other entertainments. Come to the parade wearing suffragette colours (green, purple and white). Make sure you wrap up warm. Strictly no candles and no open flames.
A series of workshops will be happening in January around the city to make lanterns for the parade:
3rd February at Elephant House, Dean Lane, Bedminster, 2-5pm:https://www.facebook.com/
4th February at Bristol Museum and Art Gallery, 11-4pm:https://www.facebook.com/
